Short History

The HOT PEPPER JAZZ BAND was founded in 1989. Since then the personnel, except for the             rhythm section, has remained virtually unchanged.
The HPJB plays hot jazz of the black and white Chicago and New York bands of the late twenties,     mainly along the style of King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton, Bix Beiderbecke, Duke Ellington and Louis     Armstrong. Apart from classic jazz  standards the band also likes to perform less known tunes     such as Rhythm King, Coal Black Shine or Long, Deep and Wide.
The unique HPJB musical style, partly improvised, partly arranged, can be described as "Chicago     Jazz - Bonn Style".

No matter where the band plays, its fresh and hearty sound, it`s exceptional repertoire and it`s         inventive arrangements generate enthusiasm and good spirit.  In short (to quote a recent             newspaper article), "the band's music keeps the listeners happy".

Jazz Clubs
The HPJB performes their authentic jazz music mainly at jazz clubs in Aachen, Bonn, Dissen–Bad Rothenfelde, Dortmund, Gladbeck, Jülich, Mülheim,  and many others.  Special engagements         were presented at "Dr. Jazz" in Düsseldorf, the "Storkshof" in Dortmund, and the "Cotton Club" in     Hamburg.

Jazz Festivals
The HPJB has regularly participated at national and international jazz festivals over the past few     years e.g., 2002 Domburg, NL, 2003 Worms, 2004 Aachen, 2005 Speyer and Hürth, 2007             Düsseldorf and Saint Raphael, France. In 2008 the band performed once again at the Jazz             Festivals at Saint Raphael, France, Derry, Northern Ireland, and Hällevik, Sweden.
